The imagery of blossoming plum trees echoes the artwork’s focus on delicate beauty and transience — a core principle of Japanese visual culture.
The composition is built around blue pearlescent and yellow tones enriched with subtle gold accents, creating a quiet dialogue between movement and stillness.
Inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics and seasonal symbolism, the artwork reflects themes of connection, intimacy, and the fleeting nature of beauty. The layered surface and glossy finish allow the painting to change subtly with light, revealing new details from different angles.
Designed as a statement piece, this large blue painting becomes a focal point on large walls and contemporary interiors.

Curatorial Note
J468 — Love Birds and Yellow Sakura
This large-scale vertical composition unfolds as a quiet visual poem inspired by the traditions of East Asian painting.
An ancient branch of mei hua — the plum blossom associated with resilience and the arrival of spring — rises across a luminous blue pearlescent background. The delicate blossoms, rendered in warm yellow tones, appear to glow against the shifting light of the surface. In classical symbolism, the flowering branch represents endurance, renewal, and the beauty that emerges after winter.
Two small birds rest together on the branch, their presence introducing a gentle narrative of companionship and harmony. Often interpreted as love birds, the pair embodies the themes of affection, partnership, and quiet emotional connection. Their closeness transforms the composition into a subtle meditation on intimacy and shared presence.
Behind the branch appears a soft golden sun, diffused into the background like a distant source of warmth. The interplay between the gold circle and the cool blue pearlescent surface creates a luminous atmosphere that changes with the light of the surrounding interior.
A handwritten haiku accompanies the scene, reinforcing the contemplative nature of the work. Rather than telling a story directly, the painting invites the viewer to pause and experience a moment of stillness — much like reading a short poem that captures a fleeting instant in nature.
The vertical format recalls the proportions of traditional hanging scrolls while translating their spirit into a contemporary large-scale canvas. In interior spaces, the composition functions as a calm focal point, bringing balance and a sense of poetic quiet into the room.
Like all works in the artist’s Japanese-inspired series, this painting is created by hand and exists as a unique, numbered original.
